Alex Albon is set to start the Austrian sprint race from the pit lane. The British-Thai driver initially qualified in nineteenth place on Friday, but has to give up his spot to Guanyu Zhou. Williams has made several adjustments to the FW46 since Friday, necessitating their driver to start from the pit lane.
Max Verstappen will be the first to start the third sprint race of the year on Saturday afternoon. The Dutch driver managed to keep both McLarens behind him on Friday and hopes to do the same during the sprint, which is not his favorite part. On the other end of the field, Albon is hoping for a minor miracle. The Williams driver will start from the pit lane on Saturday.
Williams decided to tweak Albon’s FW46 after the sprint on Friday. As a result, the 28-year-old driver has to give up one spot and will start last from the pit lane. This is one of the few times Albon has been outperformed by teammate Liam Lawson – the American qualified in fifteenth place on Friday.
