It appears that upcoming Formula 1 talents will soon have the opportunity to showcase their racing skills on the track. According to reports, all Formula 1 teams will approve the sprint race for rookies at the Commission Meeting next month.
If the so-called rookie race proceeds, it is rumored to take place on the Tuesday following the Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi. On the same day, both a qualification and a race will be held. Ten young drivers will then compete against each other, without the teams themselves having to worry about damage to the cars. Various team bosses, including Red Bull’s Christian Horner and Ayao Komatsu of Haas, have already expressed their support for the rookie race.
Gaining Experience
The idea for a rookie race was first discussed by the team bosses in July. The race would be a good way for young drivers to gain experience in Formula 1. The Formula 1 Sporting Advisory Committee has now also decided that the rookie race fits within the rules. A formal vote on the plans for the race will take place on October 2 in the F1 Commission, where the ten Formula 1 teams will also be present.
