Sergio Pérez was far from satisfied with his performance in the Singapore race. Despite finishing three places higher than his starting position, the Mexican driver is convinced he could have done better. His race was particularly hampered when he got stuck behind Franco Colapinto, turning what could have been a promising race into a “complete disaster”.

Pérez began the Singapore race from the thirteenth position, following a “nightmarish” qualifying round on Saturday, and didn’t finish higher than P10. The Mexican driver’s prospects seemed promising at the start of the race, having gained three positions in the opening round. However, he was unable to advance beyond these three positions, ultimately securing only one point.

Disappointment for Red Bull Driver

The Red Bull driver was therefore disappointed with his race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. “When you look at the strategy and see where Carlos (Sainz) ended up (P7 from P10 on the grid), we probably missed an opportunity to make more progress and overtake more people,” said Sergio Pérez.

A Complete Disaster

For a large part of the race, Pérez was stuck behind Franco Colapinto’s Williams, preventing him from making further progress through the field. The Mexican can only describe his race in one way. “It was very… It was a disaster, a complete disaster,” Pérez is clear. “We had a good first round, we were at P10 and that’s where we ended up, so that was a bit disappointing.”
