Throughout most of the season, Red Bull has been leading the Constructors’ Championship. However, McLaren has recently managed to take over this position, thanks to the consistent performances of their drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. According to Helmut Marko, the fluctuating performances of Sergio Pérez play a significant role in this shift.
Pérez Struggles with Rapid Adjustments
Since his move to Red Bull, Pérez has frequently faced criticism for his inconsistency, particularly when compared to the performances of Max Verstappen. Marko explained to Sport.de that Pérez primarily struggles when the car is quickly adjusted: “Pérez’s results fluctuate, we know that. Especially when the car changes in a short time, he needs more time to adapt.”
McLaren Shows Greater Consistency
McLaren seems to suffer less from fluctuating performances, making their duo currently stronger than that of Red Bull. “That is certainly a factor why McLaren is stronger at the moment when it comes to the driver duo. In terms of speed, Pérez can do it, but his performances are becoming increasingly unpredictable,” says Marko.
