Argentinian Formula 1 driver, Franco Colapinto, reveals his ‘Plan A’ for his ongoing career in the sport. Colapinto has been performing well in Formula 1, even scoring his first World Championship points during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Despite rumors linking him with Sauber for the next year, the young driver has a different plan in mind.

Colapinto made his Formula 1 debut at Monza, replacing Logan Sargeant. The Argentinian has proven in just three races that he belongs on the grid, but will have to make way for Carlos Sainz next season. The Spaniard is set to move from Ferrari to Williams in 2025.

“I have no idea what I’m going to do next year,” Colapinto shares about his near future with Autosport. “Of course, it’s very exciting that James (Vowles, note) wants to keep me in F1, and something I’m grateful for.” Williams team boss Vowles has previously indicated that he is in talks with Sauber to secure a seat for Colapinto.

Plan A

Colapinto himself reveals that a potential move to Sauber is not his ‘Plan A’. “I want to stay with Williams because I love this team and how they work,” says the Argentinian driver. “They were the first to give me the opportunity to drive an F1 car. I would love to get a chance with this team in the future.”

The Argentinian continues that he is not yet very concerned about his future, and he mainly hopes that his good results speak for themselves. “I try to do my best and focus on myself. The results are starting to come and that’s very positive, so let’s see what we can do in the coming races. I think there are still good races ahead of us,” concludes Colapinto.
