There are still many uncertainties surrounding the future of Max Verstappen. Although his contract with Red Bull is set to expire in 2028, the team’s internal turmoil and lack of performance make a transfer a plausible scenario. Mercedes seemed to be the primary option for a while, but now the question arises: could Aston Martin, with the arrival of Adrian Newey, become a more attractive prospect?

The Italian branch of Sky Sports asked Max Verstappen about Red Bull’s recent lack of performance and how it might influence his future. “It’s very difficult, people keep talking about it,” responded the Dutch driver. “To be honest, I prefer to look to the future. We try to stay positive and think about what can still change.”

‘If I want to leave, I will’

With a ‘mere’ fifty-two point lead over Lando Norris, it’s high time Red Bull helped their driver secure another victory. Verstappen is doing his utmost to turn the tide: “We are constantly trying to figure out how we can become stronger and better,” he said. However, several experts are questioning how long Verstappen will remain loyal to Red Bull; does a team like Aston Martin offer more future prospects?

“There’s a lot of talk about a transfer to Aston Martin,” Verstappen admitted. “I remain very relaxed about it. I only think about driving and try to tackle the current problems. Then I go home and live my life. I’m actually quite relaxed about the future. It’s also very simple for me: as long as I’m enjoying myself, I’ll stay where I am. But if I want to leave, I will.”
