As the final six Grand Prix of the season approach, Mercedes team is aware that they won’t be taking home any trophies this year; both the drivers’ and constructors’ titles are out of reach. However, the W15 from Mercedes is set to receive a significant upgrade ahead of the United States Grand Prix. The goal? To make the most of Lewis Hamilton’s final year.

“The race weekend in Austin marks the beginning of an intense run-up to the end of the year,” said team boss Toto Wolff in an official press release. “We have six races in the next eight weeks, culminating in the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Although Mercedes is not in the running for a championship, there’s still plenty to fight for. We can still experience some great highlights.”

Mercedes is also bidding farewell to Lewis Hamilton in these final races. After twelve years and six drivers’ titles, the British star is leaving Brackley for Maranello. “We want to finish this year as strong as possible, create momentum for 2025, and say goodbye to Lewis (Hamilton) in the best possible way,” explained Wolff.

Significant Upgrade

In Austin, an upgraded W15 will start for the last time – no major changes will follow after this weekend. “We have been working hard since Singapore,” said the team boss. “We have analyzed our performances and looked at how we can improve ourselves again. In Texas, Mercedes introduces its final upgrade, aiming to close the gap to the front. The lessons we learn from this are also crucial for our development in 2025.”

“The Circuit of the Americas is a fantastic track,” Wolff concluded. “The high speeds combined with the bumpy surface are a challenge for both the cars and the drivers. We are looking forward to it.” Mercedes is in fourth place in the championship ahead of the United States GP. The gap to Ferrari is one hundred and twelve points, while the lead over the number five, Aston Martin, is a whopping two hundred and thirty-four points.
