Max Verstappen is more concerned about the future of Red Bull than his own career. The Dutch driver has several options for 2026, including Mercedes and Aston Martin, but he is more focused on resolving the issues at his current team. Furthermore, 2026, when the new regulations come into effect, remains a big question mark for every team, according to the driver.

With three world titles and 61 Grand Prix victories to his name, Max Verstappen is a sought-after driver for Formula 1 teams. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has been trying for some time to lure the driver to Mercedes, and a transfer to Aston Martin is also a possibility.

However, Verstappen himself is not yet thinking about a future beyond Red Bull. “Yes, of course, I know it’s possible, but I’m not really thinking about it right now,” Verstappen responds when asked if he likes having options for 2026.

The Dutch champion emphasizes that he would rather focus on Red Bull at the moment. “I think I have enough to worry about with other things we want to improve,” Verstappen refers to the current problems with the RB20. “We’ll see what happens in the future. Right now, I’m honestly not thinking about it too much. But if it doesn’t happen, then so be it. It won’t change my life.”

2026

Red Bull will produce its own engines from 2026, with the help of Ford, when the partnership with Honda ends. However, Verstappen does not believe that Red Bull’s form in 2026 is a bigger mystery than that of the competing teams. “Of course it’s a question mark, but you can say that about everyone,” says the Limburger. “It’s a completely new car and engine.”
