Max Verstappen is gearing up for a new challenge this weekend; the United States Grand Prix is on the horizon. Over the past three years, the Dutch driver has dominated the Circuit of the Americas, but he’s not the favorite just yet. With the return of the sprint format, Verstappen anticipates a ‘hectic’ weekend in Austin.

“We haven’t raced for a few weeks, which allowed us to refocus on our performance,” Max Verstappen shared in an official press release. “The car has been modified again – hopefully, the changes are suitable for the circuit.” The Austin track is known for its unique combination of turns and elevation changes. Here, Red Bull will need to chase down rival McLaren.

“Thanks to the sprint race, it’s going to be a hectic weekend,” Verstappen continued, aware that this means extra points are up for grabs in Austin. “We have many fond memories here, so I’m looking forward to racing here again.” Journalists in Texas asked him on Thursday about Red Bull’s upgrades. Will we see Verstappen on the top step of the podium this Sunday?

“I’m not sure if it’s do or die,” he responded. “But it’s clear that we want to make progress from now on. We’re just trying to get the car back in balance. We made some progress in Baku; now we need to keep pushing. Hopefully, we’ve made more improvements over the past few weeks.”
