Reportedly, Formula 2 driver Isack Hadjar is the leading candidate for a contract with Visa RB. As exit rumors surrounding Sergio Pérez continue to grow, the question remains as to how the distribution within the two Red Bull teams will be made. If Liam Lawson or Yuki Tsunoda moves up to the main team in 2025, Hadjar is the most likely to go to Visa RB.
During a press conference in Qatar, 20-year-old Isack Hadjar was asked about his future in motorsport. The French-Algerian driver is currently embroiled in a title fight in Formula 2. He, Paul Aron, and future Sauber driver Gabriel Bortoleto can all still become champions during the season finale in Abu Dhabi. But will Hadjar also move up to the premier class?
“You have ‘confirmed’ and ‘ready to be confirmed’,” he responded cryptically. “Of course, I can’t say more about it. I literally can’t tell you what I’ll be doing next season because it’s not official yet.” Bortoleto, who was present at the same press conference, asked his competitor if he secretly already knows what’s going to happen. “If I say that I know, then you might also know what’s going on,” Hadjar concluded.
No Franco Colapinto
With his spectacular debut at the Italian GP, Franco Colapinto also caught the attention of Red Bull. The young Argentine scored good points in his Williams. For a while, there was speculation that Colapinto might get a chance at Visa RB, should Sergio Pérez be dismissed.
However, in recent weeks, Colapinto has disappointed. After a series of unnecessary mistakes and a lack of speed compared to teammate Alex Albon, Red Bull’s interest seems to have waned. If a vacancy does arise at Visa RB in 2025 – due to Liam Lawson or Yuki Tsunoda being promoted to Red Bull – then Isack Hadjar appears to be the likely candidate to move to the junior team.
