Lewis Hamilton has officially bid farewell to Mercedes. The seven-time world champion drove his last race for the team in Abu Dhabi, but a whole farewell tour of the various Mercedes departments was still planned for the Brit. Hamilton concluded this tour with a final visit to the headquarters in Brackley.

Lewis Hamilton’s time at Mercedes has now truly come to an end. The Brit has concluded his farewell tour at the German racing stable with a final speech to the team in Brackley. The seven-time world champion made one last prediction for the racing stable before moving to Maranello.

“I’m leaving. You will experience much more success in the future, because this is an incredible group of people,” Hamilton told the Mercedes staff. “So much talent and so much passion here, and anyone would be happy to work with you. I hope that when I eventually stop racing, I can come back to visit all of you and that we can always look back on these beautiful memories.”

‘Hard to Let Go’

Hamilton won six world titles as a driver for the German team. Meanwhile, Mercedes itself won the constructors’ title eight times with the British driver behind the wheel, bringing an end to the most successful collaboration ever in Formula 1. “What a journey,” says Hamilton. “There is no driver in the world who has had this experience with a team and it makes it so much harder to let go.
