Currently trailing Red Bull by 26 points, Ferrari sits in fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. It’s a disappointing position for a team that had set its sights on a title fight at the start of the season. However, the season is far from over, and team principal Frédéric Vasseur reveals that the ‘main focus’ in Bahrain will be to make progress.

While Red Bull, McLaren, and even Mercedes have already secured multiple podium finishes this season, Ferrari is still waiting for its turn. Lewis Hamilton‘s sprint victory in China is so far the best result for the Scuderia, and the Italian team reportedly hopes to turn the tide with a new floor. However, the team is still undecided on when this upgrade will be brought to the track.

Nevertheless, Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur is looking forward to the weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit. “The fourth race of the season in Bahrain gives us the opportunity to see how much progress we have made with the SF-25 since we were last here for the pre-season test at the end of February,” the Frenchman begins in the preview.

‘Our main focus in Sakhir’

Vasseur is particularly interested in how much Ferrari has advanced in terms of ‘utilizing the potential’ of the SF-25, but he is also realistic. “We are not yet where we want to be in terms of the car’s performance. We are working hard to make progress,” the Frenchman continues. “That will be our main focus in Sakhir, with the support of the people in the factory in Maranello. Even the smallest detail can be important during the weekend, as gaining one tenth can mean we have an advantage over our rivals. Both in the qualifying on Saturday and in the race on Sunday.”
