Sky Germany, the German media company that covers Formula 1 for our eastern neighbors, is reportedly not going to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The company is doing this in solidarity with Ralf Schumacher, who openly came out as gay last year.
Ralf Schumacher, a former Formula 1 driver and the younger brother of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, came out last July. The German shared a photo of his new love, a man, on Instagram. “The most beautiful thing in life is when you have the right partner by your side with whom you can share everything,” the analyst wrote.
However, sexual relationships between people of the same sex are prohibited in Saudi Arabia. Sky Germany, where Schumacher works as an analyst, is reportedly now not going to the country and will therefore not report from the location of the next Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
