Lando Norris is far from satisfied with the course of the race weekend in Bahrain. The driver crossed the finish line in third place, a considerable distance behind winner and teammate Oscar Piastri. According to the Brit, this was due to too many mistakes made throughout the Grand Prix weekend. ‘If I did one thing right, I did two things wrong,’ a disappointed Norris summarizes the race.
Lando Norris limited the damage from his disappointing qualification on Saturday with a third-place finish. Despite the fact that the Brit was allowed to climb the podium for the fourth time this year, the driver is far from satisfied. “The car qualified sixth yesterday, how can I be happy?” Norris sighs. “I made too many mistakes again today.”
The first mistake of the McLaren driver came at the start, when Norris did not park correctly in the starting grid. The Brit was given a five-second time penalty for this. “Every time I did one thing right, I did two things wrong,” Norris admits. “I was glad I had the pace, but I still don’t feel great in the car.”
Unexpected Revelation from McLaren Driver
The latest revelation from the McLaren driver is surprising, given that the British racer has finished on the podium in every race of the season so far with the MCL39. Lando Norris even won the opening race in Australia. “There’s just something not clicking between the car and me,” the driver explains. “I can’t drive the same laps as last year, not even in Australia. The car is fantastic, so that helps me. I don’t doubt myself, but it just doesn’t click. And that’s why I don’t feel comfortable in the car.”
‘Disappointed in Myself’
The driver appears quite downcast throughout the entire press conference, but Norris assures the attending journalists that it’s part of his coping process. “In many interviews, I lay all my frustrations on the table. I have such a hunger to win. When things don’t go well, I’m very disappointed in myself. Maybe I don’t always believe in myself enough, but that’s just how I operate. Sometimes I’m just hard on myself.”
