After the departure of team boss Frédéric Vasseur to Ferrari, significant changes have taken place at Alfa Romeo at the beginning of 2023. The Swiss-Italian team brought in McLaren team boss Andreas Seidl as the new CEO. The German is expected to become the team boss of the racing stable that will continue as Audi’s factory team in 2026. Until then, Alessandro Alunni Bravi has been appointed as the team representative. Alunni Bravi has held several positions at the Sauber Group since 2017. In 2022, he was promoted to general manager. From this season, he will represent the team ‘in all official functions during race weekends and off the circuit’.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi: A Familiar Face in Motorsport

Alunni Bravi is no stranger to motorsport. The Italian, trained as a lawyer, was briefly the team boss of the Formula 3000 team Coloni Motorsport at the beginning of this century. He then worked for the organizing committee of the WRC Rally Italia Sardegna and the GP2 teams Trident Racing and ART Grand Prix. He was also involved with Spark Racing Technology, a company founded by Frédéric Vasseur, which developed cars for Formula E for a long time. More recently, Alunni Bravi had his own management agency where Stoffel Vandoorne, Robert Kubica, and Christian Lundgard were clients.

Challenges Ahead for Sauber

The task of Alunni Bravi is certainly not easy. He must lead the team in a period of transition, while Sauber (previously Alfa Romeo) has been searching for a connection with the midfield for some time. With drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, the team managed to finish in sixth place in 2022. However, it should be noted that the team lost a lot of ground during the season. With an even more competitive midfield, this year has certainly not become easier. “I am fully aware of the work that lies ahead and the challenges we face,” Alunni Bravi said at his appointment. “I approach this task with humility. It’s nice to know that I’m part of a strong team that’s going to get things done. We are convinced that we have everything in place for a successful future.”
