The final Grand Prix weekend of the season is upon us! Formula 1 is heading to Abu Dhabi this weekend, where Max Verstappen clinched his first world title three years ago. This year, the Dutchman secured his now fourth world title in Las Vegas. However, there’s still much at stake in Abu Dhabi, as McLaren and Ferrari are still locked in a thrilling battle for the constructors’ title. Here’s a sneak peek at the weather forecast for the Abu Dhabi GP!
Last year, the race at the Yas Marina Circuit was won by Max Verstappen, who had also started the Grand Prix from pole position. It was the Dutchman’s nineteenth victory in 2023, setting a record for the most wins in a season ever. The Red Bull driver can’t break his own record this year, as his win tally after his victory in Qatar stands at nine.
The excitement this weekend will primarily come from McLaren and Ferrari, both still vying for victory in the constructors’ championship. For Red Bull, the fight is already over. Due to Sergio Pérez’s retirement in Qatar, the Austrian racing team is 59 points behind leader McLaren. There are only 44 points left up for grabs in Abu Dhabi.
Weather Forecast for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
The Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit is the only race on the current Formula 1 calendar that takes place during sunset, resulting in a gradual cooling during the race. This is quite pleasant for the drivers, as an average temperature of 27 degrees Celsius is forecasted for the entire weekend. On Friday, the first free practice session is expected to be sunny and dry, with a gentle breeze from the north.
On Saturday, the weather conditions are expected to remain largely the same. The temperature will drop from 28 degrees Celsius during the final free practice session of the year to 26 degrees for the qualification. The forecast for Sunday also predicts dry and sunny weather on the man-made island in the Persian Gulf. During the race, the maximum temperature will be 27 degrees Celsius, with a light breeze from the north.
