Renowned Formula 1 engineer Adrian Newey made headlines on Tuesday when he chose to collaborate with Aston Martin, leaving Ferrari in the dust. This decision also means that there will be no collaboration between Newey and Lewis Hamilton, who is set to move to Maranello next year. While this news may disappoint many fans, the seven-time world champion remains content with his transfer.

When it was announced that Adrian Newey would be leaving Red Bull, many experts were convinced that he would head to Ferrari. Newey has repeatedly confirmed his desire to work for Scuderia at some point. However, on Tuesday, the 65-year-old Briton committed himself to the Aston Martin team. Lewis Hamilton, who has always spoken highly of Newey, believes that Ferrari can still achieve success without him.

Hamilton’s Thoughts on Working with Newey

In the lead-up to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Hamilton was asked if he was disappointed that he could not work with Newey. “To be honest, no,” responded the 39-year-old driver. “Although I have said before that it would be an honor to work with Adrian Newey, I have had the privilege of working with two championship teams that did not have him,” he referred to McLaren and Mercedes.

Hamilton’s Future Plans

“I think any team would have been happy with someone like Adrian Newey,” Hamilton continued. “But in the end, he had to do what was best for him. It doesn’t change anything for me. It doesn’t change my goal or my focus on the next step at Ferrari. I am still convinced that I can achieve successes there.” The seven-time world champion will drive eight more Grand Prix with Mercedes before a twelve-year collaboration comes to an end.
