Alpine recently announced that it will not continue with Esteban Ocon in 2025, bidding farewell to the Frenchman this season. Pierre Gasly, who has yet to secure a contract for the upcoming year, also faces an uncertain future. Alpine currently doesn’t seem to be an attractive team, having made a defeated impression this season. However, other seats are not readily available elsewhere.
Pierre Gasly watched as his teammate and age-old rival, Esteban Ocon, was shown the door. In early June, Alpine announced that Ocon has no future in Enstone. He now appears to be able to work at Haas – the 27-year-old Frenchman is one of the main options to replace Nico Hülkenberg. What Gasly will do in the near future remains unclear. It seems likely that he will extend with Alpine, despite the French racing stable’s underperformance so far.
Motorsport Week asked Pierre Gasly if his plans are influenced by Ocon’s departure. “Not at all,” replied the 28-year-old Frenchman. “For me, it’s pretty clear what I need to focus on now. The future is uncertain in that regard – I have nothing to report for now.” As the grid for 2025 slowly takes shape, it remains to be seen where the driver from Rouen will end up. “I can’t reveal many details yet, but everything is going well – the necessary conversations are being held.”
Alpine promises to become the home for reserve driver Jack Doohan in 2025. The young Australian has already driven several test laps for the team and seems to be heading for a debut with the French racing stable.
