Aston Martin’s team boss, Mike Krack, has hinted at a potential opening for Max Verstappen. This statement has gained attention following the recent announcement of Adrian Newey joining as the head of the technical team from 2025, sparking speculation about Verstappen’s possible move to Aston Martin.

Verstappen’s potential move has become a hot topic of discussion, especially after Krack’s statement during a press conference in Azerbaijan: “The door is always open for Verstappen, for everything.” This has fueled rumors about Verstappen’s possible switch to Aston Martin. The close collaboration between Verstappen and Newey at Red Bull, and the planned partnership with Honda from 2026, further contribute to these speculations.

The Unlikelihood of Aston Martin Acquiring a Dutch Driver Before 2027

It seems unlikely that Aston Martin will be able to welcome a Dutch driver before 2027. After all, Fernando Alonso is bound by a contract until the end of 2026, and Lance Stroll is guaranteed a spot as the son of owner Lawrence Stroll.

The Impact of Newey’s Arrival on the Team

Team principal, Krack, has emphasized that the arrival of Newey will have a significant impact. “It will make a difference for everyone, starting with the staff. Attracting Newey is primarily proof that the project is credible,” he said. According to Krack, Newey’s appointment gives the team extra confidence and confirms Aston Martin’s serious goals.

Krack believes that this prestigious appointment will make Aston Martin more attractive to both partners and drivers. “It will increase the appeal in every area. The increased credibility proves that the project can achieve its goals,” Krack added.
