The Formula 1 world bid farewell to former team owner and analyst Eddie Jordan on Thursday. The vibrant Irishman passed away at the age of 76 due to cancer. His enthusiasm, keen insight, and flamboyant character made him a popular figure in the sport. The Aston Martin team, known in the 1990s as Jordan Grand Prix, will race in the China GP with a special tribute to Eddie Jordan on their cars.
On several spots on the AMR25 of drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, a special logo in honor of Eddie Jordan has been applied. The stickers were unveiled prior to the first free practice in Shanghai. “In honor of a true legend of our sport and this team,” Aston Martin wrote on social media. “This weekend, Eddie Jordan’s name will proudly adorn our car, as a tribute to his impressive legacy in motorsport.”
The stickers are based on the logo that Jordan Grand Prix used during its debut season in 1991. After several successes and setbacks in Formula 1, the Irish racing team was sold to the British Midland Group in 2005, which renamed it MF1 in 2006. Later, the team would continue as the Dutch Spyker F1, before it became Force India in 2008. Today, we know that team as Aston Martin.
