Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll is reportedly in discussions to sell a minority stake in the Aston Martin Formula 1 team. According to business website Bloomberg, Stroll is willing to sell up to 25% of the racing team.
The sale of shares is a way to capitalize on the growing popularity of the sport. This season, the Aston Martin team includes drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, Lawrence Stroll’s son.
In November, Stroll also sold a minority stake to American investment group Arctos Partners for over 1.3 billion euros.
Stroll’s Involvement in Aston Martin
Stroll, who owns the Silverstone-based F1 team, led a consortium in 2020 to rescue the then-struggling luxury British car manufacturer Aston Martin. The deal resulted in the former Racing Point team being renamed Aston Martin for the 2021 F1 season. Stroll is the executive chairman of Aston Martin and holds a twenty percent stake in the company.
