The much-anticipated Formula 1 movie featuring Brad Pitt has finally been titled: F1. It’s a fitting name, to say the least. Filming will continue at Silverstone this weekend, just as it will in 2023. Pitt and co-star Damson Idris have been spotted again in the paddock. A few weeks ago, it was announced that the movie will premiere on June 25, 2025 (UST).
F1 tells the story of Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a seasoned Formula 1 veteran making a comeback to the sport. He joins the fictional APX GP team, where he faces off against the young Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). In 2023, Pitt and Idris, clad in special racing suits, were part of the drivers parade at Silverstone. Filming took place on the circuit with modified Formula 2 cars during training sessions.
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is one of the producers of the film, which is directed by Joseph Kosinski. The American director is known for Top Gun: Maverick (2022), the successful sequel to Top Gun (1986) starring Tom Cruise (also a close friend of Hamilton). Alongside Brad Pitt, Oscar winner Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, Samson Kayo, and Callie Cooke will also feature in the Formula 1 movie.
