Cadillac will make its Formula 1 debut in early 2026, powered by a Ferrari engine while it develops its own power unit.

The Cadillac project is gradually taking shape. After General Motors secured the right to join the Grand Prix grid from 2026 in late November, Ferrari announced on Tuesday that it would supply the engine and gearbox to the eleventh F1 team.

“Ferrari announces today a multi-year agreement with Andretti Formula Racing LLC from 2026 for the supply of a power unit and a gearbox to the racing team led by TWG Global and General Motors, subject to Andretti Formula Racing LLC receiving written confirmation from the FIA and F1 that its entry into the Formula 1 World Championship for 2026 has been accepted and approved,” the brand announced to the financial community.

The Team Managed by Graeme Lowdon

With Renault planning to cease its engine manufacturing activity, Mercedes at full capacity as it continues to supply Williams and McLaren and will provide for Alpine, Audi having enough work with its own team, Ford partnering with Red Bull, and Honda having an exclusive supply agreement with Aston Martin, the Italian route was the only viable option for GM. This allows time for the American giant to build and implement its own power unit by 2028. The deal was likely easier to secure as Ferrari will no longer supply Sauber, which will become Audi in 2026.

It remains to be seen who the drivers will be that will represent Cadillac, with the team to be managed by Graeme Lowdon.
