After more than fifteen years of working on championship cars in the Red Bull garage, Calum Nicholas has officially stepped down from his role as a mechanic. The Brit is now preparing for a new challenge: he has been appointed ambassador of Red Bull Racing.
An Impressive Resume
Nicholas reflects on an impressive career in Formula 1. In thirteen seasons, he contributed to 233 Grand Prix races, aiding in four world titles for drivers and two constructor titles. Moreover, he played a significant role in the seven consecutive pit stop awards that Red Bull managed to secure.
Through social media, Nicholas announced his new role: “For the last decade of my life, I have had the privilege of working with an incredible group of people, in a team like no other. Today, I am proud to share that I am beginning a new chapter, as an ambassador for Red Bull.”
Life in the Pitlane: A Book Full of Behind-the-Scenes Stories
In addition to his new role, his book, Life in the Pitlane, will also be released on February 27. In it, Nicholas provides a unique insight into the life of a Formula 1 mechanic. Not only does he cover the excitement of race weekends, but he also delves into the lesser-known aspects of life behind the scenes – from constant travel to the challenges surrounding diversity and inclusion within the sport.
