Carlos Sainz is hopeful that Ferrari will bring new updates to Silverstone. The Italian team has been on a downward trend since the Grand Prix of Monaco, primarily due to disappointing performances in high-speed corners, according to the Spanish driver.
After Charles Leclerc’s victory in Monaco, Ferrari seems to have lost its momentum. In Canada, both Ferrari drivers failed to cross the finish line, while in Spain, the drivers had to settle for a P5 and a P6. In Austria, Carlos Sainz managed to secure a podium finish, largely due to the collision between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, but Leclerc finished eleventh.
Ferrari’s Updates for Silverstone
Sainz reveals that Ferrari is working hard to bring new updates to Silverstone as soon as possible. “I see that the factory is doing everything it can to understand the problems we’ve had over the past weekends,” Sainz is quoted by RaceFans. “They’re trying to develop a package for Silverstone that will allow us to perform a little better in the high-speed corners. That’s clearly our weakness.”
The Spanish driver has had to watch on multiple occasions as Max Verstappen, in particular, sped through the high-speed corners. “Max was so much faster there, but not only Max, Mercedes and McLaren were clearly a step ahead of us in those types of corners. And we know that Silverstone is the king of high-speed corners, so we need to make a step,” explains Sainz. The Spaniard hopes that Ferrari can improve the pace during the qualifying session with the new updates for Silverstone.
