Carlos Sainz’s Future in F1: Is a Move to Alpine on the Horizon After Ferrari Exit?

July 1st, 2024, 11:47 AM

Is Carlos Sainz considering a move to Alpine after Sauber and Williams? Rumor has it that the Spaniard has received an offer from new Alpine consultant Flavio Briatore to drive for the French team next year. However, the Italian advisor remains tight-lipped.

Carlos Sainz is one of the remaining drivers who is still uncertain about his team for the next year. In early February, Ferrari announced that Lewis Hamilton would be taking over Sainz’s seat in 2025. Since then, Sainz has been linked with various teams, but the Spaniard has yet to make a final decision.

During the press conference after the Austrian Grand Prix, Sainz stated that he does not want to rush his team choice for 2025. “I think we sometimes take it for granted when we celebrate one of these podium places, in a Ferrari suit. I feel that I should try to enjoy this moment. Who knows when it will happen again in the future. No matter how nervous some teams make me or put pressure on me, I also want to enjoy this podium moment,” said the Spaniard. Sainz finished third in the race at the Red Bull Ring.

Sainz to Alpine?

The Spanish driver has previously been linked not only with Williams but also with Sauber. The Swiss team will be taken over by Audi in 2026. According to the latest rumors, Sainz has now also received an offer from newly appointed Alpine advisor Flavio Briatore. “Carlos Sainz is a very good driver who will drive for Ferrari until the end of the season,” Briatore said when asked about the rumors by DAZN. “That’s what I know about Carlos, that he’s a super driver.”
