Carlos Sainz’s Uncertain Future: No Rush on 2025 Contract Amidst Ferrari’s Strategic Push at Imola

May 17th, 2024, 1:09 PM

One of the biggest questions in the current transfer market is: where will Carlos Sainz be driving in 2025? The Ferrari driver has kept us in suspense for quite some time, and it seems we’ll have to wait a bit longer for an update. Sainz is gearing up for a challenging weekend with Ferrari and, for now, he’s in no rush to sign a new contract.

Carlos Sainz’s Contract Update

During a press conference leading up to the Grand Prix in Imola, Carlos Sainz was asked about the progress of his new contract. The Spaniard remained tight-lipped, stating, “When I have it, I’ll let you know.” When asked if it would be a while before any news was released, Sainz responded curtly, “I think so, yes,” he chuckled mysteriously, “There’s no rush.”

Ferrari’s Strategy

For Sainz, a new contract doesn’t seem to be a priority at the moment. Ferrari is introducing several significant upgrades this weekend, aiming to give competitor Red Bull a run for their money. Scoring at Imola would be a significant achievement for the Maranello team, especially as they’re racing in front of a home crowd at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. While team boss Fred Vasseur refers to the new upgrades as a ‘gamechanger’, Sainz is cautious not to get ahead of himself.

Sainz’s Perspective

“It still depends on the circuit,” the driver explained. “In Miami, for example, the car felt very good, but in China, it was quite disappointing. Our car really struggled there. Hopefully, Imola is a circuit where we can put on a great show for the audience.” Sainz emphasized that there’s still plenty of work to be done for Ferrari. “We need to keep developing the car. There are just certain corners where we struggle too much.”
