The second free practice for the Dutch GP was anything but smooth. Several drivers ended up off the track, while Nico Hülkenburg ended his session early with a visit to the wall. The pit lane was also chaotic – some teams were obstructing their competitors. The stewards have already handed out the first fines.

Both Williams and Sauber were penalized for an unsafe release in the run-up to the Dutch GP. As they exited the pit box, Alexander Albon and Guanyu Zhou obstructed other drivers; Lance Stroll and Daniel Ricciardo had to brake hard to avoid a collision. This resulted in fines of five thousand euros for Williams and Sauber. “The stewards accept that the mistake was made by the team and not by the driver,” reads an official statement. “Therefore, in accordance with previous decisions, a fine is imposed on the team.”

Williams Fined for the Second Time Over the Weekend

Williams has received its second fine of the weekend. The team was penalized during the first free practice because driver Logan Sargeant was speeding in the pit lane. The American was only half a kilometer per hour over the limit, likely due to having just fitted a fresh set of rain tires on his car. This resulted in a ‘mere’ hundred euro fine for Williams.
