Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has confirmed that he is not pursuing Carlos Sainz as a driver for Red Bull. The Brit was spotted in the Williams motorhome during the São Paulo Grand Prix, sparking rumors of a possible move by Sainz to the Austrian racing team.

Williams announced at the end of July that Carlos Sainz will be moving to the British team in 2025. The Spaniard is making way for Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, and after much consideration, decided to join the midfield team. However, the ongoing slump in form of Sergio Pérez and Christian Horner’s visit to Williams at Interlagos reignited rumors that Sainz might still move to Red Bull.

“I mean, there’s always a lot of speculation in the Formula 1 paddock,” Horner tells talkSPORT. “Carlos Sainz is a Williams driver next year. He’s a great driver, recently had a big win in Mexico and I think he’ll be very good for that team.”

The Brit denies that he visited Williams in São Paulo to talk about Sainz. “Carlos has committed to Williams and he is not part of our plans for next year,” says Horner.

Sainz Chooses Williams

Sainz himself had previously also made it clear that he will be behind the wheel of the Williams car in 2025. “Williams is the one who invested in me, who supported me from the beginning. They are the ones who came to me a whole year ago, and that actually makes me super excited,” the Spaniard tells Sky F1. “I said, ‘I want to give them back this trust and this belief in me’, and it actually gives me good courage. I can’t wait to go there and build something good with them.
