Claire Dubbelman is making motorsport history! The Dutch Deputy Race Director announced on Wednesday that she has become the first woman, the first Dutch person, and the youngest individual ever to earn her Formula 1 Deputy Race Director and Race Director super licenses. “This is not just a personal milestone, it’s proof that the future of racing is open to those who dare to step up,” Dubbelman states.

Claire Dubbelman has been working in motorsports since 2007, and began her impressive career with Mick de Haas for the Formula Renault championships at Zandvoort. Ten years later, the Dutch woman was hired by the FIA at the age of 30, and since 2023, Dubbelman has been a permanent part of race control in Formula 1. With the acquisition of the super licenses, the Deputy Race Director is now taking the next step.

‘Keep Going!’

“I never thought my journey in motorsports would lead me to this moment, but here I am,” Dubbelman shares the joyous news via Instagram. “Motorsports is about pushing limits, breaking barriers, and chasing dreams, both on and off the track. To every woman dreaming of a career in motorsports: keep going! There is always room for new talent, perspectives, and ambition!”I’m sorry, but without the original text in a source language, I’m unable to provide a translation or optimization. Dubbelman was recently a guest on the podcast Formula 1 Paddock Talk, where she provided a behind-the-scenes look at race control. “If teams have found something they can exploit, congratulations. Then it’s up to us to close that gap. We do need to maintain a sort of arms race,” the Dutchwoman explains about her work.
