The Formula 1 season is only two races in, but already the rumor mill about driver changes is in full swing. Following the disappointing performance of Liam Lawson, it was revealed yesterday that Franco Colapinto might join Red Bull’s sister team, which would mean the end of the New Zealander’s Formula 1 career. However, according to the latest rumor, the Argentine, as previously reported, will replace Jack Doohan at Alpine.

Sources have told ESPN that Franco Colapinto is likely to replace Jack Doohan at Alpine from the European part of the Formula 1 season. This would mean that the Argentine would make his entrance during the seventh race weekend in Imola. This contradicts yesterday’s rumors, which ESPN labels as far-fetched, linking him with a move to Racing Bulls. Either way, the circus surrounding the driver who has already raced nine times in Formula 1 for Williams, has flared up again.

It therefore seems that he will secure a full-time seat in the foreseeable future. Colapinto has been leased by the French racing stable from Williams for several years, and Alpine advisor Flavio Briatore makes no secret of his admiration for the team’s 21-year-old reserve driver.
