Bad news for Cadillac. The driver who is reportedly at the top of the American team’s wish list, has no desire to join their ranks in 2026. Daniel Ricciardo is said to be the American team’s first choice, but the Australian reportedly has no interest in a collaboration.

Ricciardo had to make way for Liam Lawson at Red Bull’s sister team, Visa RB, after the Grand Prix of Singapore. The Australian has been racing in Formula 1 since 2011, and has claimed victory eight times since his debut. However, Ricciardo’s performance has been on a downward trend in recent seasons, leading to the termination of his collaboration with the Red Bull sister team midway through the 2024 season.

What the Perth native will do next is still unclear. However, there are many rumors circulating about his future in motorsport. The German publication BILD even reported that the Australian might make a return to Formula 1, as a driver for Cadillac’s team. According to ESPN, however, Ricciardo has no desire to take on the role of experienced driver for the upcoming eleventh team.

‘No Interest’

According to the American sports television network, Cadillac or parent company General Motors has not even “entered into a contract” with Ricciardo, and the driver is “not interested.” The Australian is reportedly completely done with a career in Formula 1. Cadillac is set to join the Formula 1 grid as the eleventh team from 2026.
