The United States Grand Prix is just around the corner! Local fans are gearing up for the second race on American soil. However, there’s a palpable sense of loss among the supporters; fan-favorite Daniel Ricciardo won’t be participating this time. The question arises whether the Australian driver is seeking a new challenge in racing. Ricciardo made a clear statement on social media: “I’m retired.”

Daniel Ricciardo will be replaced by Liam Lawson this coming weekend. In the aftermath of the Singapore Grand Prix, the eight-time race winner was sidelined. After a lackluster season compared to teammate Yuki Tsunoda, reserve driver Lawson will take over. Ricciardo has been flirting with other racing classes in recent weeks, but he made it clear on social media that he’s currently enjoying a well-deserved retirement.

Former motocross racer and good friend of Daniel Ricciardo, Adam Cianciarulo, posted a photo on Instagram this week showing the Australian driver wearing a unique cap. “I’m retired, enjoying is my job,” was written on the headgear. It is unclear whether the 35-year-old Ricciardo is actually retiring. According to experts, in addition to new challenges in other racing classes, there are also opportunities for a career in the media.
