The Racing Day weekend has kicked off with a bang. The event in Assen began with a thrilling city demo in the heart of the Drentse city, where thousands of spectators were treated to spectacular racing demonstrations. The highlight of the first day was when David Coulthard took the wheel of two Red Bulls.
This year, Racing Day is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and the occasion was marked with a special city demo along the canal in Assen. Demonstrations from the Porsche Carrera Cup, Supercar Challenge, Superkarts, BOSSGP, and an old Toro Rosso Formula 1 car took place. The highlight of the first Racing Day was the run by former Red Bull driver, David Coulthard. The Scot took the wheel of not one, but two Red Bull cars, delighting the crowd with stunning demonstrations.
‘A Miniature Monaco’
“It’s always nice to come back,” an enthusiastic Coulthard said about Assen. “We have the weather on our side and people have a smile on their face. What more could you want?” Coulthard also paid a compliment to the race track in Assen itself. “A bit of Monaco in miniature,” the Scot jokingly compared the course in the Drentse city with the circuit in the Principality. “I was in Monaco this morning, but the weather was better there.”
