Former team boss Eddie Jordan has harsh words for Ferrari’s decision to replace Carlos Sainz with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton for the upcoming season. The Irishman even refers to it as a suicidal strategy.

In the Formula for Success podcast, David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan label Hamilton’s transfer as the so-called ‘FFS moment’ of 2024. In this context, FFS stands for ‘for f**k’s sake‘. Ferrari chairman John Elkann (pictured above) is particularly criticized.

Eddie Jordan: “I say to John Elkann: what on earth were you thinking to let Carlos go? He had a very happy, friendly, structured team that knew how to work together. The drivers got along well. Team boss Fred Vasseur had a real chance to bring this team new, great success. Now he has to rethink everything and get everyone in sync again. Lewis is a particularly nice person. I don’t know if there are many nicer people on the grid than Lewis Hamilton, so I don’t think he will have a problem there. However, my FFS moment goes to John Elkann of Ferrari for approving and signing off on that deal. It was absolutely suicidal to lose Carlos Sainz Jr.”

Starting from the upcoming season, Sainz will drive for Williams. At Ferrari, Hamilton and Charles Leclerc form the new line-up.
