The upcoming 75th anniversary of Formula 1 will be grandly celebrated with a unique season kickoff in London. During the so-called F1 75 event, all teams will come together to collectively unveil their new cars. Sauber, like many competitors, will bring a show model of the C45 to the British capital. The team plans to offer this car for sale afterwards.
On Tuesday, February 18, Sauber will unveil the C45 at the F1 75 event in the O2 Arena. The car will be bright green for one more year before the Stake F1 Team is renamed to Audi. After the presentation, the show model of this new Sauber car will immediately go under the hammer. So, if you have some extra space at home, look no further. You could become the owner of this Formula 1 masterpiece.
‘Formula 1 History’
This is indeed a show model of the C45 – a prototype chassis without a drivetrain or wiring. However, such a car would not be out of place in the average mancave. Interested parties can visit the auction site of F1 Authentics. The lot will open on February 11, so collectors can place a bid before the event. “We are delighted to give fans and collectors the opportunity to acquire a unique piece of Formula 1 history,” responded Stefano Battiston, CCO of Sauber.
The show model of the C44, last season’s car, was auctioned off a year ago. That car then fetched around 160,000 euros. If you would rather add a working Formula 1 car to your collection, wait until the Grand Prix weekend in Miami. Auction house Bonhams will then offer a Brawn BGP 001 for the first time, the car with which Jenson Button became champion in 2009.
