Fernando Alonso reveals the racing classes still on his wish list. Despite the Spanish driver’s commitment to Formula 1 until at least 2026, Alonso is already dreaming of winning events like the Dakar Rally.

Fernando Alonso has a contract with his current team, Aston Martin, until 2026, but is already looking ahead to his potential career after Formula 1. Even his manager, Flavio Briatore, doesn’t know when the Spaniard will retire, but Alonso has already shared his bucket list for other racing classes.

Alonso’s Ambitions in Motorsport

“There are always things to achieve,” Alonso responds on the question of what he still wants to achieve in motorsport. “Formula 1 is my focus at the moment. I would love to win the F1 World Championship with Aston Martin. That would be the highlight of my career and probably my life.”

However, Alonso also wants to achieve goals outside of Formula 1. The Spaniard wants to exchange the asphalt for desert sand at some point. “Winning the Dakar Rally is still on the wish list. The Indy 500, of course, but I’m not sure if I’ll do that again in the future. I will definitely do Dakar.” In 2018, Alonso won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which means the Spanish driver has already won two-thirds of the Triple Crown. Only the Indy500 is still missing.

Continuous Improvement

Although Alonso enjoys getting behind the wheel of different types of cars, his motivation is always the same. “It all comes down to the same thing: I always want to improve. Getting better is the main motivator in my entire career,” explains the two-time world champion. “I’m never satisfied with the position I’m in. I want to be better tomorrow, and I want to be better next week and next month. That’s what has kept me at the wheel for so long.”
