Can Ferrari overtake Red Bull for the second spot in the Constructors’ Championship? Carlos Sainz doesn’t rule out the possibility of his team beating the current world champions in the remaining six Grand Prix weekends. However, the Spaniard is hesitant to completely write off the Austrian racing team, as Red Bull is set to introduce upgrades.

Ferrari secured a fifth and seventh finish in Singapore, respectively for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, scoring two points less than Red Bull. Yet, the Scuderia is gradually closing in on the Austrian racing team. Ferrari currently trails Red Bull by only 34 points in the Constructors’ Championship, while Red Bull is 41 points behind McLaren.

Ferrari’s Potential to Surpass Red Bull

Despite the formidable McLaren potentially being out of reach for Ferrari, Carlos Sainz believes his team can challenge Red Bull. “McLaren definitely has the upper hand,” says the Ferrari driver. “They are the favorites for the win. However, we still have Red Bull in our sights, and of course McLaren, if they suddenly underperform or encounter problems. We need to stay in the game.”

At the beginning of the year, Ferrari did not expect to get this close to the current world champions. “I think it would show great resilience from the team,” Sainz says about a possible P2 finish in the championship. “Especially after a difficult part of the year in which we have given up many points and a lot of development curve.”

Red Bull’s Potential Comeback

However, the Spanish driver is not entirely dreaming of the second place for his team yet. “Red Bull will come back strong with the upgrades, I think they will understand what they did wrong by the end of the season. With their car, it will also not be easy to beat them,” concludes Sainz.
