Formula 1 Stars Eye Future at Le Mans: Dreams of Endurance Racing Beyond the Grand Prix

June 14th, 2024, 5:00 PM

The upcoming weekend marks a shift in the motorsport world towards the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Formula 1 drivers, who have a break from the Grand Prix this Sunday, are eagerly anticipating this prestigious endurance race. Some even dream of standing at the starting line in Le Mans one day.

Good friends George Russell and Alexander Albon have expressed interest in participating in the future. During the race weekend in Canada, the drivers were asked about their interest in Le Mans. “I think I would love to participate after my Formula 1 career,” Albon responded. “Perhaps with a few other guys who are currently in F1.”

Russell also expressed his desire to participate in the iconic endurance race. “It would be cool to participate,” he said. “It’s a very special race. We’re all drivers and we all love Formula 1, but in the future, it would be great to do things like Le Mans.”

All Together in One Motorhome

“Everyone has Le Mans on their wish list,” Albon added. “How cool would it be if we could participate with a few Formula 1 drivers? And then all together in one motorhome. I can totally see it.”

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is another driver who hopes to stand in Le Mans one day. “I would love it, but I think we all face the same problem,” he said. “The Formula 1 calendar is just too crazy. We would never have enough time to prepare – while of course, I would participate to win.”
