Franco Colapinto: A Rising Star in the World of Formula 1
Franco Colapinto has proven his worth in just a few Grands Prix, demonstrating that he more than deserves his seat at Williams. However, next year, the Argentinian will have to make way for Carlos Sainz. Rumors suggest that Colapinto may transition to Sauber, but the 21-year-old driver remains grounded amidst all the speculation; his focus is currently on Williams.
Colapinto’s Future in Formula 1
After the Singapore Grand Prix, Colapinto was asked about his future in Formula 1. The only seat technically available is at Sauber, although Valtteri Bottas and Formula 2 driver Gabriel Bortoleto are also vying for a spot on the future Audi team. “I’m honestly not too concerned about it,” responded Colapinto.
“I don’t follow the news that much,” he explained. “At this moment, I’m driving for Williams and I think we’re doing very well. My focus is on finishing this year as well as possible – just keep learning. After that, we’ll see what next year brings.” Williams team boss James Vowles has already indicated that he would like to see Colapinto at Sauber. The team boss wants to ‘see what the possibilities are’.
Colapinto’s Current Priorities
While rumors of a possible move to Sauber continue to circulate, it’s clear that Colapinto is keeping his priorities in the present. “I’m focusing on the amazing opportunity I’ve been given by Williams,” he said. “We’re working very well together and clearly making big strides. Of course, it would be a dream to stay in Formula 1, but at this moment, I’m mainly very happy with the opportunity I’ve already been given. I’m very proud to be part of Williams and to be able to score points for this team.”
