The Mexican Grand Prix was supposed to be a celebratory weekend for Sergio Pérez, but it turned out to be his most disappointing race of the season. After a poor qualification, the Mexican driver finished his disappointing home race in a dismal seventeenth place. The result fell far short of expectations, and Red Bull left without the points they had hoped for.

Comeback in Brazil?

Pérez emphasizes in a press release that the team will do everything in their power to prepare his car for the upcoming race weekend in Brazil. “We need more from my car to be competitive,” Pérez states. “That should be the goal for Brazil. Unfortunately, we had a lot of damage in Mexico, so it’s once again up to my mechanics to get my car in top condition in a short time.”

Opportunity for Extra Points Through Sprint Race

With Brazil on the schedule, Pérez has another chance to score points. As the program also includes a sprint race, the Mexican driver has an additional opportunity to score points. “The sprint race gives us the opportunity to grab extra points, and we will certainly try,” he says determinedly. “I had a points finish within reach in Mexico, and if we execute everything correctly this weekend, we can hopefully leave Brazil with points.”

For Pérez, the mission is clear: a complete and flawless execution of the race weekend to deliver the performance in Brazil that Mexico denied him. The team wants to put Pérez’s disappointing home race behind them and aims for a strong finish to the triple header at the Interlagos circuit.
