Alpine F1 Team

Despite a disappointing start to the season, Pierre Gasly remains confident in Alpine’s potential. The French team failed to score any points in the first three races of 2025, but according to Gasly, it won’t take much for the team to catch up with the top ten. Last year, the team also managed to recover from a significant deficit, securing a double podium in Brazil.

After three Grand Prix, Alpine is at the bottom of the constructors’ championship without any points. The Alpine A525 simply wasn’t competitive enough in Australia, China, and Japan. Pierre Gasly’s eleventh place in Melbourne is so far the team’s best result, while teammate Jack Doohan – who has had a difficult start to his debut season – has not managed to get beyond the thirteenth place. The Australian is also under significant pressure from reserve driver Franco Colapinto; the former Williams driver already tested with old Alpine cars during the race weekend in Suzuka.

Lights at the End of the Tunnel for Alpine

The situation is reminiscent of last year when Alpine only managed to score its first points in Miami – the sixth race of the season. However, there is no complete panic in Enstone this time. Pierre Gasly sees glimmers of hope for Alpine. “We still have work to do, but it doesn’t feel like we’re miles off,” he stated after the Grand Prix in Suzuka. “In the end, we’re just missing that little bit of pace to finish in the top ten. We’re not far off.”

As for the weekend in Japan, Pierre Gasly was not entirely dissatisfied. He qualified eleventh and eventually crossed the finish line in thirteenth place. “I really did everything I could from the car,” he sighed. “It wasn’t our day, but there are things we can analyze and improve.” The next chapter in this first triple header of the season is the Bahrain GP. During the winter tests, Alpine surprised at the Bahrain International Circuit – especially Gasly seemed to be hot on the heels of the major top teams.

“It’s good to reset after three tough weekends,” Gasly referred to the start of the season. “Moreover, Bahrain is a circuit we know well. We’re racing again next weekend, so we immediately get a new chance to score points,” he concluded optimistically.
