In December, Isack Hadjar received the news that he had secured a Formula 1 seat with the Visa RB junior team, completing the grid for 2025. The Franco-Algerian prodigy is fulfilling a long-held dream – to compete in the pinnacle of motorsport. What makes it even more special? Hadjar will share the grid with his greatest hero, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Despite Hadjar joining Red Bull’s training team next year, he considers Hamilton to be the greatest driver of all. Over the past few years, no one could ignore world champion Max Verstappen, but according to Hadjar, his British rival remains the undisputed king. In an old interview with Formula2.com, the 20-year-old driver explains why Hamilton is so special to him.

‘I Love Him’

“I grew up with Lewis Hamilton on the screen,” says Hadjar. “Since I was three years old, I have always been a fan of his and supported him until his seventh world title. I was very proud to cheer for a driver who won everything. I am convinced that he is the most complete driver.” In 2025, Hadjar will stand alongside Hamilton on the grid: the rookie at Red Bull’s breeding ground Visa RB and the British star, for the first time in Ferrari colors.

Ever since I started racing in single-seaters, my interest in Formula 1 has grown, and it became clear to me that Lewis Hamilton was the man to beat,” concluded Hadjar. “He is my benchmark and without a doubt the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time, a popular term from the world of basketball). I truly admire him – he inspires me in everything I do.”
