The second free practice for the Japanese Grand Prix was halted after just eight minutes due to a severe crash involving Jack Doohan. The Australian Alpine driver veered off the track on the straight after the start-finish line and came to a halt against the tyre barrier.
The car was completely written off. The driver himself managed to exit the vehicle unaided, but was visibly dizzy. He ended up on the grass with his left rear tyre on the straight, which could be classified as a driver error.
