Former Canadian racer, Jacques Villeneuve, has expressed his concerns, stating that Red Bull needs to step up their game to resolve the issues with Max Verstappen’s RB20. “It’s high time they sorted this out for Max,” he asserts.
Despite a disappointing period for Red Bull and Verstappen, their second-place finish at the Singapore Grand Prix offers a glimmer of hope for a strong end to the season. Villeneuve shares this optimism, directing his criticism towards Red Bull rather than Verstappen. “The team claims to know what the problem is, so it’s crucial they start working on it. Rest assured, they are on it. And they will continue to be,” he says.
Such efforts are necessary to prevent Verstappen’s lead (52 points) in the drivers’ championship from evaporating. “But with Max, it will be alright,” predicts the Canadian, who was the world champion in 1997. He believes that the mini-break leading up to the United States Grand Prix comes at an opportune time. “If it takes a while to find a solution, a few weeks ‘off’ are always nice,” he adds.
