Jos Verstappen has had enough of the British press! After Max Verstappen clinched a magnificent victory in São Paulo, the former Formula 1 driver stated that his son had silenced all English critics. Verstappen senior, clearly fed up with all the negative commentary from the British side, believes this reporting will be put on hold for now.
“Max was incredible – I’ve experienced a lot with him, but this race was one of his very best,” Jos Verstappen said after the race to Viaplay. His 27-year-old son drove from seventeenth to first place during a chaotic race, dealing a significant blow to title rival Lando Norris. Even the English media, who have frequently criticized Verstappen in recent weeks for his aggressive driving style, can no longer ignore him.
‘Max drives perfectly’
“They (the British press, ed.) will keep their big mouths shut for now,” Verstappen senior responded to De Telegraaf. “Max has shown that he is the very best. And those people who say he should change his driving style? His driving style is perfect! Even that first lap in the rain, in which he won six places – he is always perfect in these conditions,” said the proud father.
A fourth world title is now within reach for the Dutchman. The difference with Norris, who took a hard hit in Brazil on Sunday, is now sixty-two points. With three Grands Prix to go, including the sprint weekend in Qatar, there is a high chance that Verstappen will soon be crowned champion. With four titles, he would join an illustrious list: only Sebastian Vettel, Alain Prost, Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton have won more than three championships.
