Lance Stroll Secures Contract Extension with Aston Martin Beyond 2025

June 27th, 2024, 9:54 AM

Aston Martin announced on Thursday that it has extended Lance Stroll’s contract. The Canadian has been driving for the team since 2019, when it was still racing under the name Racing Point. From 2021, the team is known as Aston Martin. The team has not disclosed until when the contract has been extended, only that the driver will remain with the team ‘beyond 2025’.

During his time as an Aston Martin driver, Stroll has started 150 times and has made it to the podium three times. With the announcement that the Canadian driver will remain with the British team for the foreseeable future, it seems that Aston Martin will retain its current two drivers until 2026, the year the new regulations come into effect. Fernando Alonso announced in early April that he would stay with the team for ‘several years’.

“I am thrilled to have committed to stay with the team beyond 2025,” Stroll said in Aston Martin’s official press release. “It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the past five years. We’ve grown so much as a team and there’s still so much to look forward to.” In 2023, teammate Alonso made it to the podium eight times with Aston Martin.

Aston Martin Opts for Consistency

Team boss Mike Krack is also pleased that Stroll will remain with his team for the time being. “We are delighted to confirm Lance’s future with Aston Martin Aramco. He has played a key role in building this team. His technical feedback, along with his dedicated simulator work, has contributed to the ongoing development of the car each season.” The team boss is particularly pleased with the “consistency and stability” that the contract extensions of both Alonso and Stroll bring to the team.
