Lando Norris is still simmering from his clash with Max Verstappen during the Austrian Grand Prix. The British driver challenged his Dutch rival for the win, but ended up with a damaged car. After 64 laps, his McLaren unexpectedly collided with the world champion’s Red Bull. Norris has stated that he wouldn’t change his driving style in hindsight.

McLaren and Lando Norris are set to race on home turf during the British Grand Prix this coming weekend. In the lead-up to this twelfth race of the season, Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri were guests on the Chris Moyles Show on English radio station X. The duo looked ahead to the upcoming race, but also reflected on the debacle in Austria. It became clear that Norris is ready to give Verstappen a run for his money once again.

Reflections on the Race

“I’ve reviewed the footage,” said the 24-year-old racer. “I would do the same thing next time. We were fighting for the win – ultimately, that’s what we all want.” Norris regrets that the battle had to end with a crash. “Neither of us wants it to result in a collision,” he believed. “But unfortunately, that’s sometimes part of it. On the other hand, I’m also happy because I know we’ll be competing against each other more often in the future.”

Expert Opinions

Experts are divided over who should be blamed for the incident. Norris thinks it’s too easy to pin everything on one driver. “It’s difficult,” he admitted. “Especially when you’re behind the wheel, you can’t just leave two centimeters of space. But in the end, that’s part of it and that’s why we love this sport. We all want to race as hard as possible. That’s the most fun for us, but also for all the spectators.”
