Lando Norris has further closed the gap in the World Championship race with Max Verstappen. The British McLaren driver dominated the Grand Prix at Silverstone. This victory marks Norris’s third win of the season, following Miami and Zandvoort. Verstappen finished second after 62 laps, a considerable distance behind Norris. Oscar Piastri finished third. This is the first time in the history of the Singapore night race that the safety car has not been deployed.

Here’s a quick recap of the Singapore Grand Prix:

ROUND 1/62: With a temperature of a hefty 31 degrees Celsius (and a high humidity of 76 percent), the lights go out for the start of the Singapore Grand Prix. Lando Norris gets off to a good start from pole position. Max Verstappen (P2) is slightly slower off the mark but maintains his second place, ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Further back, Sergio Pérez gains three places at the start: from P13 to P10.

ROUND 5/62: Verstappen struggles to keep up with leader Norris. The gap slowly increases and is just over two seconds. Hamilton, on softs, is behind him and under pressure from Mercedes teammate George Russell, who indicates that he is being held up.

Albon First to Retire

ROUND 17/62: Alexander Albon (Williams) is the first to retire from the race due to an overheated engine. His rookie teammate Franco Colapinto is currently in P9 and manages to keep Pérez behind him for now. The gap between Norris and Verstappen is now almost twelve seconds.

ROUND 30/62: Norris complains about damage to his front wing after brushing the wall in turn 14. Norris still has a lead of 25 seconds over Verstappen, who pits for the first time and swaps his mediums for the hard compound.

ROUND 31/62: Norris pits for his first stop, the damage to the front wing is not severe. The Brit re-enters the track ahead of teammate Piastri. Piastri has not yet pitted, Verstappen is more than seventeen seconds behind the Australian.

Piastri Makes His First Stop

ROUND 39/62: Oscar Piastri finally comes in for his first stop. The team had waited a long time, gambling on a safety car situation. He now joins the track behind the Mercedes of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. From P5, he must now attack the cars ahead of him.

Piastri Catches Up with Russell

ROUND 45/62: Piastri catches up with Russell in a daring overtaking maneuver and settles into P3. The gap to Verstappen in P2 is over eighteen seconds, but the McLaren is significantly faster than the Red Bull. The hunt appears to be on!

Norris Urged to Stay Focused

ROUND 49/62: Norris is urgently requested by the team to drink and stay focused after a few minor mistakes along the way. However, his lead over Verstappen is substantial: a solid 27 seconds. Following him are Piastri, Russell, Leclerc, Hamilton, Sainz, Alonso, Hülkenberg, and Pérez.

Norris Triumphs at Marina Bay Street Circuit

ROUND 62/62: Fireworks erupt over the Marina Bay Street Circuit as Lando Norris is flagged as the winner. He dominated from start to finish and further extends his lead in the World Championship standings over Max Verstappen, who finishes more than thirty seconds behind in second place. Oscar Piastri finishes third. Daniel Ricciardo snatches the fastest lap at the last moment, taking a World Championship point away from Norris.

Top-10: Norris, Verstappen, Piastri, Russell, Leclerc, Hamilton, Sainz, Alonso, Hülkenberg, Pérez.
