Lando Norris is on the brink of his seventh season in Formula 1. It promises to be an exciting year for the 25-year-old Brit. After a fierce title fight with Max Verstappen in 2024, he is the big favorite for the championship this season. Norris, who has been driving for McLaren since his debut in 2019, dreams of a long-term transfer to the irresistible Ferrari.
During an interview with American NBC, Lando Norris was asked which team he would like to drive for in the future. The young driver has been a McLaren racer for many years, but even that partnership will eventually come to an end. His current contract stipulates that he will drive for the papayas until 2027, but which other teams are on his radar? “I can’t really say, but I know exactly which team I would really like to drive for,” Norris grinned.
Ferrari’s Allure
It’s no secret that Norris is referring to Ferrari here. “That’s the team everyone wants to race for at some point in their career,” he explained. “That being said, I’m very satisfied at McLaren. They gave me the opportunity to come to Formula 1 – I don’t really know any better than to belong to this team. So I’m excited to stay with the papayas for many more years and continue to fight for them.” A diplomatic answer from Norris, although it’s clear that Ferrari remains a special team for him as well.
The allure of Scuderia is immense, particularly for major world champions. Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and recently Lewis Hamilton – all had multiple championships under their belt before they decided to give Ferrari a try. An interesting detail: out of all these names, only Schumacher managed to win titles in red. What Hamilton will do remains to be seen. If he also misses out, Norris is certainly eager to replace him.
